
Latur: The Junior Cricket Premier League (JCPL) 2024 officially commenced this Wednesday at the Dayanand College ground. Organized by the DCC Club, the tournament is designed as a launchpad for cricketing talent under the age of 17.
Six teams, each featuring 15 players, are competing in the league. Beyond the boundary ropes, the JCPL emphasizes a balance between professional match experience and academic discipline, supported by a panel of expert coaches and scouts.
Tournament Highlights:
- Grand Finale: Scheduled for December 1, with District Collector Varsha Thakur-Ghuge presiding over the ceremony.
- Prize Pool: The winning team will take home ₹15,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up will receive ₹11,000.
- Individual Honors: Awards will be presented for Best Player, Man of the Series, Best Bowler, Best Wicket-keeper, and Best Fielder.
The organizing committee, led by Dr. Nikhil Kale and Manoj Pitale, aims for the event to serve as a vital training ground for the next generation of professional cricketers.
